Mairead O’Keeffe, the owner of New Leaf, took on the Montane Spine Challenger – a gruelling 108mile race in the Peak District.
The Montane Summer Spine Challenger is a beautiful section of the Pennine Way which featuring the iconic moorland of the Kinder Plateau, numerous National Parks, Malham Cove and Pen-y-Ghent to name a few. The route is very exposed and whilst people may think completing this route is much easier in the summer they may be surprised! Those who have participated in this event have experienced first hand how tough it can be!
Mairead lead the women’s race through the first day, but overnight she lost her lead to Lauren Johnson. In the end Mairead finished in second place in an amazing 32.5hrs. She did amazing!
