We have referred frequently to the role of ancient civilizations and the views on life held by the Philosophers and Sages of that time. Spirituality was one of the important characteristics in the early civilizations. Over the centuries, many of the leading Churches had spiritual practices as a key part of their religious philosophy. Perhaps, when looked back upon, some Churches went too far with enforcement, with punishment and retribution when citizens failed to comply with the wishes or commands of the leaders. In the more recent centuries however, the major battle centered around the emergence of science and the mindset and narrative which developed around science. The spiritual role and its relevance were diminished, set aside, even ridiculed by the emerging scientific establishments. Belief in an invisible God became an anathema to many conventional scientists.
