Coconut oil is solid at room temperature and melts at around 25 degrees. When solid it is a translucent white in colour, turning to clear when melted. It has a slight nutty aroma with a sweet and salty taste. Coconut oil is rich in medium chain triglycerides (MCTs), comprising of 9 MCTs that total 93% volume.
Traditional use of coconut was as an Indian Ayurvedic food, and consequently the coconut tree was referred to as ‘Kalpavriksha’; the all giving tree.
